Movie next Sunday?

I AM NUMBER FOUR

Well, we made it home safely last night...what an amazing trip! I'm not too thrilled about all this snow though! I'm anxious to find out what you thought about our book selection. We need to find a time to go to the movie too. I'm sure it will be playing next week but if I get some responses this morning, we could make plans to go this afternoon at 4:20 or the 7ish show. If I don't hear from you this morning, I'll wait until Book Club tomorrow to set a date. Talk to you soon!!

Are we savvy consumers?

Companies spend billions every year on advertising. Are they actually getting anything back for it? How effective are they? In an age when you can fast forward through commercials, advertisers have to make their ad stand out from all the rest so you may want to watch it.
Find one television ad to critique. Provide a link so your classmates can view it as well. What is the product or service? Who is the target audience? What promise are they making? What techniques do they use in the ad? Are these techniques effective? Would you buy the product? What makes this ad stand out from all the others? Include your critique in your post along with the link.
Have a great day and a relaxing week off! I'll say hi to Mickey for you!! ;)

Skating Scandal!

Jamie Sale and David Pelletier skated a seemingly flawless routine at the the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. The skating pair, as well as everyone watching knew they skated well enough to clinch the gold medal. Unfortunately, when the marks were posted, the stunned Canadian pair was left with the silver medal. A judging scandal rocked the IOC and the world. Sale and Pelletier were later awarded their gold medal but not before the competitive skating world would be changed forever.

Ethics in Athletics

Marion Jones is just one athlete in an, unfortunately, long list of athletes who have used illegal substances to boost their athletic performances. Due to their dishonesty, they have let down their fans, their countries and themselves.

There's Gold in Them There Hills!

People came from near and far with only a mere whisper of there possibly being gold. People left their lives in search of striking it rich. Mining towns sprung up virtually overnight. Some people were lucky enough to find the precious metal but most left with empty pockets and broken dreams.

Due to the tough economic times and the rising price of gold, we may be facing a modern day Gold Rush!

Space Adventures

The world sat riveted to their televisions as the drama of bringing Apollo 13 home safely played out. Could you be a space adventurer?
